Naturopathic Pregnancy Support

Dr. Kristin Wootton, ND offers a pre-natal program individualized to your health goals and designed to nurture you through your pregnancy.  The program provides support during all three trimesters through to post-partum and incorporates education around what to expect in each trimester, safe diet and supplement optimization, birth plan and labour preparation, prenatal acupuncture as well as post-partum healing and breastfeeding support. 

 

Dr. Kristin Wootton, ND works in collaboration with your healthcare team to provide integrative support for all pregnancy stages and concerns.  Although it is recommended to start the program at the beginning, naturopathic support can be started at any point in the pregnancy.

First Trimester:

  • Comprehensive Health History

  • Complaint oriented physical exam.

  • What to Expect in the first trimester  

  • Natural and effective solutions for: morning sickness, headaches, constipation, heartburn, fatigue, mood changes, etc

  • Supplementation and Herbal Remedies

  • Miscarriage prevention (if applicable)

Third Trimester:

  • Group B Strep Prevention

  • Acupressure: techniques to ease discomfort during labour

  • Homeopathic and herbal remedies to use for labour and post-partum

  • Breastfeeding preparation and education.

  • Pre-birth Acupuncture – starting at week 36 to prepare body for labour.

  • Post-partum healing plan (for vaginal or C-section births)

  • Acupuncture for induction (if needed)

  • Turning Breech Baby techniques (if needed)

Second Trimester:

  • What to expect in the second trimester

  • Birth plan development and discussion of common interventions in labour

  • Birth kit: what to pack

  • Supplementation and Herbal Remedies

  • Natural and effective solutions for: hemorrhoids, heartburn, iron deficiency, mood changes, varicose veins, swelling, etc.

Post-Partum Visit (s)

  • Breastfeeding support

  • Post-partum healing

  • Emotional support

Acupuncture:

May be recommended throughout pregnancy to help with various concerns including; history of pregnancy loss, fatigue, morning sickness, swelling, stress, labour and birth preparation, induction, etc.
